Hey Arcaders!
Whenever Data East needed a hit- they would see what the other companies would do, what the trends in the arcades were going, and deliver a solid game in that genre. Our next game was no different! When the four player side scrolling beat em’ up was extremely huge, they really hit one out of the park with this game- Captain America And The Avengers!
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
Red Skull is back with a sinister mind-control device to command the most evil supervillains on earth against the forces of good. The supervillains want to control the universe! Captain America and the Avengers are the world’s last hope in this battle against evil Join Cap, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Vision, as they combine their special powers with your skills in a last ditch effort to defeat Red Skill and his evil henchmen. Succeed, and you’re a hero. Fail, and we’ll revoke your Avengers security clearance!

Data East went all out on this cabinet- It stood out in any arcade!
I love the water color look of the game- from the title screen to the backgrounds- this game is a looker!

The game was ported to several systems of the day- including the brand new SNES!
Fun fact- I installed this game into one of our Dynamo showcase 50 cabinets we had at DisneyQuest back in 2014- after it’s closure, one of the managers wanted it for their office- and it’s still on property to this day.
What do you think of Captain America and the Avengers? I enjoy this game to this day- I think it’s one of the best comic book games of it’s day- from the beautiful backgrounds to the killer soundtrack- this game’s a great time!

You definitely weren’t kidding about this title – Data East went all out on this one, and they were able to bring out the essence of what the Marvel Universe is, which would continue into the 90s with the Genesis/SNES games that would use the Marvel heroes.
