Hey Arcaders!
What happens when Peter Pepper closes down his burger shop for an ice cream parlor? you get the little known sequel (and no- it’s not Super Burgertime… we will get to that one soon!)
You get Peter Pepper’s Ice Cream Factory!

Peter Pepper’s Ice Cream Factory has the distinction of being one of the last DECO cassette games- with an extremely limited release in the US (as most DECO cassette systems had been converted by 1984). I didn’t know about this game until about a year after it’s release- and didn’t get to play it until emulation was a thing in the late 90s.

Peter Pepper’s Ice Cream Factory plays similar to Burgertime, but rather than trying to build hamburgers at the bottom of the screen, the goal is to get the scoops of ice cream to their cones.
Peter doesn’t walk on top of the ice cream, but he needs to push and kick it and try to land it on top of an empty ice cream cone. Fill all the cones to end the round.
Peter Pepper does not have pepper in the Ice Cream Factory, but now he can jump and and kick. Ice cream scoops that are kicked can take out the enemies. And oh boy… these guys are a doozy.

Peter’s not fully defenseless- grab one of the treats- the jam, cannoli, lollypop , and yes- a hamburger to stun the baddies for a few seconds- just walk on em- they will disappear, giving you more time to get the scoops into those cones!
Just watch old Peter in action!
Surprisingly there have been a couple of ports of this quirky game to modern(ish) systems. the first one I forgot about until I looked on my copy- it’s included on the Data East Arcade Classics for the Wii! Check it out!
Second is on the iiRcade system.
And of course, there’s good old emulation! So play this awesome game any way you can!
So- what do you think of Peter Pepper’s Ice Cream Factory? did you ever play it? I always like hitting a bad guy on a lower floor- and land that scoop in to a cone above! Let me know in the comments!
Keep Playin’ Like It’s 1981!
