Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Danny’s thoughts)

For centuries games of all kinds have entertained people the world over. Many of them have even managed to cross oceans and borders several times over and have helped bridge cultural gaps through nothing but a combination of curiosity and fun. And as technology has advanced there have been many attempts to place these classic games in one nifty collection, or collections as many have seen. But perhaps none have been more notable in this endeavor than the Clubhouse Games collections. And in the case of the Nintendo Switch it couldn’t have been more of a perfect fit.

So what is Clubhouse Games anyway? Well, to put it simply, it is a collection of classic games from across the world. And it isn’t games in terms of classic consoles or Arcade cabinets. It’s basically classic board games that you find in places like Walmart or Target. You want Klondike Solitaire? You got it. You want to play Blackjack, Dominoes, Shogi, Yahtzee, Hanafuda, etc.? This collection has them and then some.

Now I don’t know what made me purchase it when I first saw it, but something inside told me to go get it. And interestingly enough I didn’t play it after purchasing it. But then a month and a half ago I decided to give it a shot for the first time, and I was blown away by just the simple introduction to each of these games. Some I was familiar with, others I knew nothing of. But as I gave each game a shot I found myself opening up to board games I might have felt intimidated by had I seen these in the flesh. But playing them on the Switch helped take that intimidation away.

Another one of the best things about playing this is that I found my own brain learning something new and it felt like I was putting it through a mental gym in a whole new way which led to more mental clarity for myself. And as someone who also enjoys Big Brain Academy, that is saying a lot. Now that’s not to say you won’t be put through your paces when you first start. And even when you beat a game the first time the difficulty options then unlock, allowing you the chance to really learn how to master some of the games you play.

In all, this is a collection that is worth having because if you were ever intimidated by some of these games I can guarantee this collection will help you get rid of that. Plus it is another one of those titles you can enjoy with your family and friends which really makes it special.

So give it a shot. You may be surprised how much it can open your mind to new things game-wise.
