To conclude the countdown let’s go out on a high note with a couple of tunes from “Pokémon The Movie 2000”, a movie that seemed to be the last animated film with an overarching musical theme from start to finish, and nowhere was this emphasized with the scene where the character Melody plays the full song, and of course the end title theme performed by none other than the late great Donna Summer.
For this next tune I figured we’d go with a tune from a distinct Pokémon fighting game.
To continue the next gen of Pokémon from Red/Blue/Yellow to Gold/Silver, here’s a tune that players will hear when they get to Mt. Silver and only when they confront a very familiar face hanging out there by himself.
For the next song on this countdown we have the intro to the next generation of Pokémon games: Gold and Silver!
And so for the third song on the countdown we have the intro for the Pokémon game that offered players a slightly different experience in exploring Kanto, but this time with Pikachu as your starter! And not only that, but you get to follow the anime more closely!
For today’s selection on the countdown, let’s go with the final confrontation with your rival Blue, or as fans know him best, “Gary Oak” courtesy of the anime. And if you had managed to get to this point in the game, you knew you were in for one heck of a battle!
To add yet another teaser to our countdown, I decided to do a little throwback to the early seasons of the Pokémon Anime (specifically Johto) with some songs from that era. If fans remember the end segment of each episode called Pokémon-karaokemon – then they’ll recognize some of these tunes.
In preparation for the epicness that will be the countdown to the arrival of Pokémon Sun and Moon, here’s two very distinct yet very fun covers to the first theme song of the Pokémon anime which need no setup from yours truly. Just sit back and enjoy!
