And so here we are, counting the remaining hour and change until the new year, and I realize I had yet to post anything about my top games of this year! So without further ado, here we go!
Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain
With this game i finally got a chance to do some serious Brain-training. Granted it wasn’t Brain Age but this game, much like it’s predecessors is no slouch. You get a chance to do some really challenging yet fun exercises to help keep your brain sharp. After you reach a certain score you get a 1-star silver medal, which can then turn into two and then three star medals, and then gold medals. Plus after you get gold medals on all the exercises you then unlock a mode where you get to play the same exercises but only with a more difficult setting. In addition you get to compete with other Arcaders across the globe as well as any friends that have the game.
Hopefully this can lead to a Brain Age game released.
Metroid Dread
Nintendo’s one and only bounty hunter Samus Aran is back, and this time she has to face off against enemies new and old as she tries to unravel a mystery on the planet ZDR.
This game taps back into that classic Metroid gameplay that Arcaders recognize, and with a touch of sci-fi horror which will keep them on their toes.
Splatoon 3
Ready your Ink weapons, because the Inklings are back in a whole new Splatoon game! Just like the previous games, ink and splat your way across many stages and see if you can be the best in 4 vs. 4 competitions, including the occasional Splatfest. Single-player mode is also available, so there is a lot to unpack here.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection
As I’ve said many times before, this collection was one that was a long time coming, and i’m glad it is now here. Even if you weren’t a kid during the late 80s/early 90s, if you are a TMNT fan, get this collection. You will be glad you did.
In all, I know it’s a short list, but it’s one that merits attention because of how fun these titles are, and ones that I highly recommend both from this year and going into the new year. I still have a laundry list of games to play and stream, but I didn’t want to end this year without sharing my personal favorites of 2022.
So give these games a shot if you haven’t already, and also, make sure to try out ones of your own. You never know what fun games you might find.
Happy New Year Arcaders!
